Meet Nadia
Nadia Milleron is a devoted mother and advocate who tirelessly pursues justice and accountability to ensure the safety of our communities.

Inspired by Legacy
My grandparents were Lebanese immigrants that settled in Winsted, CT, but I was born in California in 1964, a time of great social and cultural transformation. My mother, Laura Nader, a renowned anthropologist who taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and my father, a physicist, worked on security issues related to nuclear energy in the 1960s and 1970s. My uncle, Ralph Nader, an influential consumer advocate in Washington DC, helped pass the the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Consumer Product Safety Act and establish OSHA and the EPA. As 1st generation activists and academics, my family instilled in me a deep appreciation for our country and the power of ordinary citizens to make extraordinary change.

Pioneering Woman and Mother
I graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Smith College in Northampton, MA. I then pursued my Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Iowa, graduating in 1994. During my time in Iowa, I met Michael Stumo, whom I married in 1992. Michael is a not only my partner in marriage, but a source of great wisdom and guidance on issues. He grew up on a farm in Iowa and introduced me to a rural life.

Family Farm Life
I moved to Winsted, Connecticut after we went married, but my desire for open skies and a life grounded in traditional values led us to Sheffield, Massachusetts, in 1999. There, we established a farm where we raised our children and have lived and worked for the past 25 years.

Families are the cornerstone of our society, providing an essential sense of belonging and security. In our families, we learn values, develop social skills, and build lifelong bonds that reinforce the importance of connection and community. As your representative, I will prioritize policies that strengthen families, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to nurture their members. Together, we can create a society where families come first, fostering personal and collective well-being for all.

I homeschooled our children and managed the farm, dealing with sick livestock and navigating the financial strains of agriculture. I am conversant in Spanish and Portuguese, languages I learned to connect with a broader community and during travels to visit our sons, who are a maritime sailor and a ship engineer. Life on the farm has been characterized by a “can-do” attitude, despite the challenges and expenses associated with farming.

My relentless push for aviation safety is deeply rooted in my family’s legacy of challenging corporate negligence and advocating for public safety. My uncle, Ralph Nader, revolutionized consumer protection with his groundbreaking 1965 bestseller, Unsafe at Any Speed, which exposed the automobile industry’s disregard for safety and led to significant regulatory reforms.

Enjoying Massachusetts Life
My commitment to activism became deeply personal when our daughter, Samya, tragically died in the Boeing 737 MAX crash in 2019. This loss propelled me into national advocacy, leading to the passage of the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act in 2020. I also spearheaded the 2023 overthrow of an Illinois state law that protected corporations from being punished for knowingly killing people.

Now, I am running for Congress to represent Massachusetts’ First Congressional District, advocating for true representation free from corporate interests. I’m running to ensure that every voice in our community is heard. My journey has taught me that real change comes from the ground up, and I believe in the power of the people to shape their own futures. Together, we can build a better future for all.
